From ancient texts, artefacts and illustrations we know that the Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Russians and Egyptians have all worked on the feet to promote good health. Many of these techniques have been developed and combined into our modern scientific method called Reflexology.
This treatment involves massage of the lower leg, ankles and feet with the Reflexologist applying pinpoint pressure to specific reflex points on the feet.
It is believed that there are energy zones that run throughout the body. Reflex areas in the feet and hands are linked to all the major organs, glands and other parts of the body.
Applying pressure to these reflex points releases energies in the related organs and areas of the body. Although the techniques involve pressure on the lower limbs and the feet, the benefits are widespread throughout the body as reflexology can stimulate the body’s own healing process and promote natural healing.
Reflexology can also be performed on the hands for people who have conditions that prevent them from having any pressure applied to their feet.
